Looks fangtastic! I'm a die-hard original series fan, and have been blue over recent rumours about the film, but I now see how this re-imagining can be both a tribute to the original and a great new work from Burton/Depp. Of course this is based only on the trailer, but my guess it will be one of Burton's best.

And not incidentally, thanks, Stuart, for all your work in so many ways that is keeping the dream alive!

I'm not going to lie, this trailer shocked me a bit. But I still have faith in this movie. I think I need to watch it again.

How cool! I'm a big fan of the original DS and will always love it best, but after seeing the trailer I'm so relieved that they apparently are not trying to be devoted to re-making the original, but making a fresh and unique version of the story! Maybe, just maybe... there will be two Dark Shadows to love!

I remember being a bit bewildered when it was announced they were making a Batman movie. I questioned, "Why remake that campy tv show?" Then, a bit of news… it was going to be the project of that Beetlejuice guy! I was a bit taken in by that flick, and the creator! Soon there was an edgy new look Batman and before he could return, there were promos on tv for another Tim Burton creation…Nightmare Before Christmas. They looked a bit weird, but I went to the theatre anyway. "What's this?" I exclaimed at the sight
I was falling in love with a musical? Nowadays, it's every bit the holiday tradition for me that the CBS Rudolph thing was.
What sold me was the unexplainable private showing of Edward Scissorhands. It might have been the weather acting up a bit, but there I was… alone in the theatre. That's when I knew I had a little bit of Tim in me.
I couldn't catch them all at the movies. I had to watch his works at home too. I like some more that others but, it was my satisfying experiences with the four post Beetlejuice films that got me taking my daughters out to Charlie and Alice.
It will also get my butt to the theatre for Dark Shadows! The trailer was about what I expected, as I had been following this production like none other. I guess I am also a little bit of a DS snob since 1967. I have a special place in my heart for Dan Curtis and his vision. It was played out in black and white on television ; in a 'House' on the silver screen ; in a '90s mini-series! Now let's rejoice in a Burton/Depp re-vamp for the new century! I put a curse on the haters!

Its a reimagining - but i love the look, the humor and the fact that it takes place in 1972!

I'll be in line to see this! It reminds me a little bit of the Addams Family movie and a bit of Ed Wood and Sleepy Hallow. Its obviously going to have more humor in it then the original series. Of course for all we know that's all the humor and the rest of it is more serious. There's no doubt that parts of the movie are serious. Are you hardcore DS fans ready for a little humor or is it sacrilage?

I, too, was shocked by my first view of this trailer; shocked is exactly the right word. But I did recognize right away that Johnny Depp appears to be giving a wonderful performance, and, upon subsequent viewings, I realized that if I am willing to give up wanting this to be just a brilliant remake, I might find myself enjoying a new and completely fresh experience, with enough of the original remaining that, as RetroWorld2000 said, it is still a tribute. Many of us may feel somewhat protective toward the original series, but this film will not take the orginal away from us, and in fact promises to be better than Dan Curtis' own attempts at remakes. The sets, the cinematography and the art direction all look fantastic, and all of the performances look promising, even exciting. I may even love this.

I am a diehard fan of the original and I like the trailer. I wonder what the original cast thinks about it.

I'm excited to see this version and I hope it peaks interest with viewers to check out the original series.

I am looking forward to having Angelique in the re-imagining, as we've already seen the same story played out 3 times (original show, House of Dark Shadows, 90's version).

I do hope it has lots of horror moments--can't wait to see it!

I am a huge Dark Shadows fan. Though I was not around to see it during it's original run, hearing my sister talk about it, and then seeing it rerun on tv, it captured my imagination and I was hooked instantly. I bought all of the books I could find and eventually collected all the episodes. I remember the feeling of anticipation I had when the 90's Revival was announced, and though it was all to brief, I was once again entranced by the story and acting as well as the wonderfully atmospheric and moody tone of the series. Now, I am also a huge Tim Burton and Johnny Depp fan. I have seen all of their work, together, and individually. When I heard that they would team together again to bring Dark Shadows to the big screen I was first, excited, and then a little concerned. How would they approach the material? And Johnny Depp as Barnabas? I just didn't see it. I have watched the trailer at least a dozen times, and I have to say....I love it! The spirit of the thing is so amazingly Dark Shadows! I am so glad they didn't go the "house of Dark Shadows" route. This is a unique look at Dark Shadows, and to be honest all it can do is good, if for no other reason than that a whole new audience will now be exposed to this wonderful phenomenon that we have all shared for so many years. And to top it all off, it even looks entertaining :)

Russ and I are choosing to reserve judgement until we see more. As others have pointed out, this is only a couple of minutes out of a two hour film. My hope is that we've seen all the goofy stuff in the trailer, and the rest of the movie will morph back to a tone that is more in keeping with the original series. Seeing as this is a Tim Burton film, that may be an unrealistic expectation, but one can always hope.

I just watched the trailer. I love the original series and the core of it was Barnabas the tragic hero. No tragic hero in the new movie. I will undoubtedly watch it when it comes to DVD, and release all expectations that it have anything to do with the characters I know and love. It's like taking the original premise and making a completely different movie. No Shakespearean monologues here!

Ok, I think I noticed something. Without the 80s music, this wouldn't be shocking. I feel better about this now.
"Are you stoned or something?" I can't stop laughing about that.

As somebody who, like so many others, rushed home from school to see Dark Shadows, this trailer gave me the giggles......love the comeback, "They tried to stone me, my Dear.....it did not work." I also love Josette's ghost "He's coming." Pretty cool. We'll just have to wait patiently 'til May to find out if this movie is a hit or a miss.

I hope the slightly different trailer I saw last night during Once Upon A Time on ABC will be available on YouTube soon. I haven't seen any mention of it this morning and I've checked here on Dark Shadows News Page, on Facebook and on Twitter. The official website slows my computer down so much that I haven't checked there and I still have to venture onto YouTube this morning.

When first viewing the new DARK SHADOWS Movie Trailer: I was upset for it has quite a bit of humour in it and the origional Classic DARK SHADOWS is not humourous what so ever, it's total darkly-Mystery Supernatural Gothic-Drama all the way!! I do like how it starts off very "chilly-dark" and after viewing the new DS's trailer a couple more times even though w/the humour in it, it has a frightening glow to it that's haunting on edge, thanks to the fine acting talents of Actor Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins and other fine acting talents. It's winning me over..'slowly. I will definately see it and plus our much beloved DS's legends will make a camero appearnce in it! Big smile!! - Sharon, a DS's fan since the mid 60's
