$10 Million First-Day Takings For Dark Shadows

  • The Hollywood Reporter says that early indications are that Dark Shadows took $10 million on its Friday opening in the United States. This figure remains in line with industry predictions, which suggest the movie will gross $30-35 million across its first weekend.
  • The Tokyo premiere of Dark Shadows took place earlier today, with Johnny Depp (Barnabas Collins) and director Tim Burton in attendance. As can be seen right, Johnny took the opportunity to demonstrate some of Barnabas' trademark hand movements.
  • The Los Angeles Times takes a look at the sets for the Dark Shadows movie, with unseen photography and commentary from production designer Rick Heinrichs, who discusses the detailed work involved: "When Barnabas walks into Collinwood, he makes a reference to the artisans and craftspeople who worked on the house. So it needed to reflect that amount of effort."
  • UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph has published a Dark Shadows set report by Tim Burton biographer Mark Salisbury, interviewing cast and crew on location. To read it online click here.
  • Fox10TV celebrates Dark Shadows across the ages with a photo gallery of the original series, featuring never-before-seen shots. Pay a visit by clicking here.
  • And, signing off, here are some video treats: A new Dark Shadows TV spot and a CBS news report about a Pittsburgh fan who has taken his devotion to another level by creating his own version of Collinwood to live in.

Dark Shadows Part 2 would be fine with me. Make it dramatic next time. Let John Karlen, Nancy Barrett, Jerry Lacy and Kate Jackson appear in the next one.

Ive already seen it twice. It gets better every time I see it. Its awesome! And soooo WEIRD! There's major plot twists and such classic humor, you really cant put this movie in one genre. Turns out that awkward part was not a sex scene. They just made out and broke suff but it was still awkward. This is very open to a sequel, theres a lot of loose ends at the end but I understand why Tim said it wasn't possible. Theres one major thing that could keep that from happening. I hope they could find a way around that. I would kill to see another. Then they could slow it down a bit and focus on each plot and character more. I have to see it at least two more times.

Sing it again on Thursday. Having read the recently-published "Return to Collinwood", I got more out of some of the movie than I wouldl have otherwise. And sequels are always possible.

Great TV news footage of the fans that have a DARK SHADOWS Home base. That's incredible home you have there..'And it would be nice if the real COLLINWOOD Mansion from DARK SHADOWS could be stayed in from time to time when the DS's Festivities come around: it would be quite scary/on edge chills staying a night or two in the House of Dark Shadows. I proberly wouldn't lost a half the night...'scared out of my wits hearing that music in all. The new DS's movie was richly impactful emotions, hint of humour & haunting. We enjoyed it and look forward to DS 2 - this time bring in the characters of Quentin Collins/Actor Ian S. from Vampiere Diaries would be perfect as Quentin, Prof. Stokes/Actor Vincent D' Onofrio, Rev Trask-Actor Crispin Glover etc.,. W/Cameos of DS's legends John Karlen, Nancy Barrett, Denise Nickerson, Jerry Lacy and Chris Pennock making a quests appearance next time around.

I feel fortunate to have worked with the owner of the house... who is hiding in the Shadows. A very nice person and fun to work with. However, I've only heard about this wonderful replica, but unfortunately, have not visited, YET ;) Please do not ask who this person is as I will not tell you!!
