MPI Home Video have confirmed full details for April's Dark Shadows: The Complete Original Series DVD set. As previously reported, the new release will include every episode of the show in a coffin-shaped case. The box features nickel hinges and a matte finish with foil printing, with the episodes housed in 22 amaray cases on 131 discs. Each limited edition unit is numbered and includes an exclusive postcard signed by Jonathan Frid (Barnabas Collins), along with an illustrated booklet of episode summaries.
Along with the bonus interviews and extras from the original DVD releases, the new set will also include "special Bloopers, Treasures and Behind the Scenes DVDs". The set can be pre-ordered now at a 30% discount price (saving over $175.00) by clicking here.

I still think it would be wonderful if they would also sell just the case with the Treasures dvd, as this packaging looks awesome :)
I agree Christian. That would be really cool. I want this packaging, if only to free up 2 shelves of bookcase space!!
Are the Bloopers, Treasures and Behind the Scenes DVDs ones that have already been released, or will this set include something completely new?
Christian, there are 3 extra DVDs. Bloopers and Treasures is the name of one of them.
Eric - yeah, I meant to say "with anything exclusive to the boxed set." :) I actually emailed MPI suggesting they do this, so here's hoping they consider it!
I did the same thing Christian--politely of course. We can hope!
Does anyone know just what the differences are with the discs? is it the same exact content and menus as in the old releases? Somehow that doesn't make sense to me. If there are 22 cases, they must have 6 discs a piece, so they would be like disc 1-6 on the labels, not the old numbering which was 1-4 in 32 individual cases. If the labels are numbered differently, the menus on the discs would be changed. I wonder how far they went with this. Did they completely rearrange the episodes on all the discs to integrate the two old DVD series into one, or did they simply put the old discs into this new packaging?
The new set will have revised menu designs, but other than the episode upgrades mentioned, the content will be identical to the original releases.
