Shadows Movie Soundtrack Samples Released

Yesterday we reported on the track listing for Danny Elfman's Dark Shadows movie soundtrack album, and today Water Tower Music have released a series of sample excerpts from the score, which can be listened to online. Fans of the original Dark Shadows should listen out for some snatches of Robert Cobert's incidental music compositions from the original series.

To hear the preview tracks, click here. Once again, be warned that some of the titles include plot spoilers. The Dark Shadows Original Score CD is out on May 8 and can be pre-ordered now by clicking here.

I'm very pleased with the score. I'm so happy that the original music was integrated in it. Hoping this means more good things to come with the finished product. I've been thus far very skeptical, but this has given me a little hope.

If you cue a trailer (with the trailer sound off) to some of the music previews -- particularly "Shadows - Reprise" you have something very exciting.

Well.... I'm happy that most of it sounds dark... Puzzled to why they did not include the original Dark Shadows Theme though.. :-( And is it me... but does some of this sound like it comes from Jaws?

The only thing I can hear ... admittedly didn't listen to them all the way through ... is that the first one sounds somewhat like "The Secret Room" from the TV show's original soundtrack album.

I go from being a little worried about this movie to feeling confident that I will enjoy it. The music is encouraging. There is a hint of the original music in the first track. The music gives the film a whole different feel than the trailers. I look forward to seeing the film.

The mystery of this film deepens - the dark mood of this score is 180 degrees opposite to the mood suggested by the trailers. I'm definitely more intrigued. In 5 more weeks we will find out what on earth this film really is.

Elfman is definitely giving props to Robert Colbert as the vibe doesn't stray much from the original! Lots of dark moody dirges complete with flute and xylophone just like Colbert! :-)

I can tell I'm going to really adore that score.

Robert Corbert's musical vision of the original show was unique and Elfman's score clearly respects it

It's absolutely exquisite. Sadly beautiful and haunting.

Beautiful haunting DARK SHADOWS Movie Soundtrack: Music Composer Danny Elfman did an awesome job, very creepy, chilly & Heart breaking frightening to his themes. Adding & integrating the Classic origional Themes "here & there" particular the Dark Shadow Classic haunt-Theme from the legendary DS's Music Composer Robert Cobert's. It has a rich haunting foundation, I like it alot! And the CD Sleeve cover is a eye-chill gripper.
