Dark Shadows Complete Series DVD Set Announced

MPI Home Video have announced three new titles for April tying in with the release of the Dark Shadows feature film, including a long-requested complete series box set. Provisional artwork for the set is shown left. This and two new compilation releases, Dark Shadows: The Best of Barnabas and Dark Shadows: Fan Favorites, will be released on April 10. Cover designs for the other two titles is being finalised and should be unveiled soon.

Dark Shadows: The Complete Series is a collector's box set offering all 1,225 original series episodes at an unbeatable low price. The set retails at $599.98 but is currently being offered at a 30% pre-order discount, saving over $175.00.

    I wonder if "The Best of Barnabas" compilation is the same one that was originally released on VHS and is included in the Volume 26 DVD release.

    No, both compilations are completely new, including The Best of Barnabas.

    Hey Stuart--any idea if the "Complete Series" will simply be the exact disks that have already been released individually? OR, if they will be completely remastered, with all new bonus material? I just wonder because I'm one of the people who purchased EVERY set as they came out individually. How I would love to "downsize" my collection's shelf space--but man...so much money already spent!

    I would like to know the answer to Tracy's question also. Same exact disks already released in a new package or remastered ones? I also wonder if there is a plan to put them out eventially on Blu-ray?
    Thanks in advance for telling us what you know. I also bought all the individual sets but would buy this new 'Complete Series' Tom

    At the moment, I don't have any more info, though I think it's unlikely that the set will be all-new discs. There are no plans to put the show out on BluRay – the resolution of the tapes is too low for any upgrade picture-wise.

    Anything new on "House" or "Night". I was certain that with the new movie, these would finally be out on DVD

    The set should have all the bonus features from the original releases, but there's no word yet if any new content will be included.
