Capturing the soap opera atmosphere of the original episodes is something the film is actively trying to recreate. "That's part of what the vibe of the show is, and there's something about it that we want to get... it's early days. I'm very intrigued by the tone. IMDB has reported more crew appointments for the movie. Des Whelan is Dark Shadows' camera operator, with his previous work including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Tudors and The Wolfman. Michael Byrne is the film's assistant make-up artist, with his other work including the forthcoming Wuthering Heights and Wrath of the Titans. Simon Priestman is visual effects camera operator, having worked on Angels & Demons and the television series Helicopter Heroes. And finally, Leah Gallo is the unit's stills photographer, having previously photographed Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd.
